GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE

The governance of USK is organized as follows;

The Council

It is the supreme decision making organ of the society and comprises the Patron, Board of Directors, Trustees, Management Committee, Representative of Undugu Friends Circle and representatives of community members from the USK program me areas.

The council elects the Board of Directors and Trustees and appoints USK auditors. Board of Trustees is entrusted with control of all USK immovable assets. I.e. land and buildings.

Board of Directors

It is the governing body of the society and is charged with the responsibility of policy formulation, advisory functions, control of funds, and assets and any other activities that are in line with the vision and the mission of USK. The Executive Director is the secretary to the board.

To enhance objectivity and harness new ideas, board members serve for a maximum of two terms of 3 years each and are replaced by new members at an Annual General Meeting.

Executive Director’s office

The office is responsible for the overall coordination of USK activities at the council, board and management levels. The Chief Executive Officer is the key resource mobilizer for USK activities, provides strategic direction, ensures policies are implemented and handles communication with the public and partners.

Management Committee

This comprises the Executive Director, heads of departments and representatives of USK’s core units. The team oversees implementation of plans, monitors progress and generates progress reports whose information is used for programming and decision –making.

Friends Circle Networks

The circles comprise of individuals who are familiar with the work of USK and have a desire to be identified with its mission and vision. They offer support inform of professional ideas, exchange of information and fundraising for USK activities.

Apart from being ambassadors for USK, the friends’ circles act as a pool from where USK governance organs draw some of their members and leaders.
